On Saturday, February 23rd, thirteen Destination ImagiNation (DI) teams from Delano attended the West Metro Regional Tournament.  Seventy-four students in grades three to eleven descended upon Maple Grove Senior High School armed with props and costumes to present their solutions to their chosen challenges.  Many talents were showcased throughout the day as part of the skit presentations delivering solutions to technical, building, and theater-related challenges. Student-created scripts, scenery, costumes, machines, and props amazed the appraisers who had many excellent comments about the Delano teams.

Highlights of the day included the "Cowabunga Kids" bringing home the "Spirit of DI" award.  This group of five sixth-grade boys captured the true meaning of DI with their teamwork and ability to focus on and achieve their goals.

The fourth grade girls, "Twice the Spice", earned second place in their theatrical division and will be heading to the state tournament in April.

The sixth grade girls, "BIG boyz", constructed an obstacle course and a remote control car to meet the technical challenges required.  Placing first in their division sends them to the state tournament.

Unofficially labeled "the best skit of the day" for senior-level teams, by one appraiser, the eleventh grade team, "If Walls Could Talk", easily won their division and will also represent Delano at state.

The Destination ImagiNation state tournament will be held on April 19. Teams that place at the top of their division in this tournament, will go on to represent Minnesota at the Global Tournament in Knoxville, TN; and will compete against teams from all 50 states and 47 countries.
